Black River Technical College seeks professional development accreditation for educator active shooter training

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Black River Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) has developed Active Shooter Training for Educators, and educators that take the course may soon get professional development credits.
According to BRTC, the curriculum contains the most current guidelines established by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
Educators will be taught how to identify threats, secure classrooms, and react to active shooter events.
This four-hour course will be submitted to the Arkansas Department of Education for approval for professional development. A timetable for approval was not released.
In order to provide the safest atmosphere for children to learn, BRTC LETA Instructors have been offering the training for ten years to interested schools.

BRTC is founded in 1971 as a vocational college, operates the main campus in Pocahontas, and has a satellite campus in Paragould. It offers a host of two-year degree programs along with vocation certifications.
